Took the kids to The Cloisters today at the top of Manhattan.

So many good reminders inside that humans have lived through some really insane shit at the hands of religious ferocity and violent crusades of all sorts. History is a teacher.

From a friend & client who is the mayor of her upstate New York town. Over the past nine years, her team of community organizers flipped EVERY RED SEAT in the city and county to BLUE, culminating in last night's final tally.

The good news just keeps on coming.
"Good Morning! Last night was amazing in western/central NY - long time Towns flipped - Monroe Cty - outside of Rochester flipped seats Dem from long held Red to Blue. Here’s the best for organizers like husband and me - after 9 years… we flipped every seat in our Town that was still R. Here’s what has changed after 9 years. We started with 1 Dem on the Village Board and our D member of Congress. Village Board and Mayor (me) are all D State Sen and AssemblyMember - D County Exec. - D 2 County Leg for our town -D 2 Town Judges - D **Town Board, Clerk, and Supervisor! ALL D as of last night. This is why organizing, planning, and solid strategy works. 9 YEARS and many races that we didn’t win. So here’s the take away - our area was considered solid R until the last 5 years. KEEP GOING. There’s more of us than them and people need to know that there are good people who want to do good for the community. Sorry for the long post, but AMAZING NIGHT that restored a little more faith in our community and humanity. 🥲🥲🥲."

We're less than a week away from the Nov. 2025 election. I'm running for City Council at-Large. This is the first time in decades that the Democrats of our city have had 3 candidates (on our side) to choose from, we are hoping and praying that the voters choose all or some of us. It's been a hectic busy summer; knocking doors, attending fundraisers, and building relationships among the residents of [redacted]. Because of your inspiration and hard work (educating us) I am standing here on the brink of possibly being a member of City Council. It still sounds absolutely bizarre to me...BUT...it doesn't sound scary. I know that even with my "beginner's mind" I can be a force for good on our City Council. Regardless of the results on Tuesday, I have learned so much over these many years from you. That knowledge will follow me and continue to grow into the future. None of us knows what that future will look like, and we are certainly not promised a tomorrow. But I know deep in my heart that none of this would have been possible without you. I am hoping I can report a win on Nov. 4, but if not I will be neither disappointed nor dismayed. As you have said many times, Elizabeth, once your feet are on this path of activism you can not step off. This is evident in [redacted's] decision to run again for the Senate. At the most recent fundraiser he told us that he could not sit by as Trump surrounds himself with billionaires, leaving the least of us without a voice. Sending you so much love and light.
