Twelve. That's the answer for my table, which is about 8 more than I expected considering they've turned to theft just because they saw something shiny. Their battle with the creatures responsible will have to wait until next week.

Okay, but how many levels deep do you think your #ttrpg table could get with nesting fetch quests before the players do crime? You need something from someone who will only give it to you if you get something from someone else, but they need something from yet another person… and so on until crime.

#ttrpg tip: give mermaids wheelchairs to continue their hunt on land.

RPG tip from the archive: Did a character leave the story and then return? Bring the player in to fill in what happened.

GM Tip: Don't be afraid to change your plans at any moment - even mid-battle - if you think it will help your players have fun. You can always regroup and re-plan later, between sessions. #ttrpg #dnd #ttrpgcommunity

GM Tip: Ask your players what their plans are at the end of each session. It helps you know what spend time preparing, while still giving the players agency to make their own decisions and follow their own path.

How do you make your world feel more lived-in as a DM? #DnD

Hey. Hey you.

If you’re trying to DM for the first time, don’t be afraid to make mistakes or look something up.

If your group doesn’t let you make mistakes then maybe they’re not the right group.

Everyone’s gotta start somewhere, mistakes will be made—and that’s 100% ok. ❤️

#ttrpg hot take: if you can't afford to hire professional artists and writers to fill in the gaps in your skills, you can't afford the hobby. Taking shortcuts with you #homebrew can get you unpersoned from bsky communities.

Alright #ttrpg friends, what game-related activities just sap your energy? Few things exhaust me faster than when I #gm a dungeon crawl. I can run six-hour sessions, but two hours into running a dungeon and my brain is mashed potatoes. The runny instant kind.

My players went for the unexpected choice of wishing that all of their little animal pets were awakened animals. They have a Bag of Weasels and have accumulated some 16 weasel friends. So now I have some NPCs to make. #ttrpg #pathfinder2e #dm

Some story hooks, two floors of a dungeon, a few social encounters, a boss fight, and they're starting off the session choosing a quest reward—with one option being a Wish.

Hopefully that's enough prepared to cobble together a Pathfinder session for my players tomorrow. #ttrpg #pathfinder2e #dm

This is a visual way to handle swash buckle-y combat without complex battle mats used by several game systems.

The idea is to use an index card for each abstract zone of the scenery with a gameplay feature in it.

Point Crawls are a type of adventure that instead of hallways and doors it is points with information connected by lines. Events happen at the points. This is traditionally a TTRPG tool.

Video games like Slay the Spire's map are the same thing and it is cool to see how it gets adopted.

Alright #TTRPG friends, I'm looking for a tool to create—and preferably generate—hex grid world maps to export for use with a VTT. Software, web tools, free, paid… I wand to look at 'em all.
What have you tried?
Do you have a favorite?

One of my favorite tools in my GM kit is @dungeonalchemist.com — whether I'm making an animated arena for a #pathfinder2e set piece battle or taking advantage of its procedural generation to import a quick map for a battle that my players have no idea was made 30 seconds ago.

Today's #pathfinder2e session will start with the party in the Plane of Air riding on a dragon that's being chased by a bigger, angrier, dragon. I'm sure it'll be fine.

Just played in my first #pathfinder2e session after years as a GM. What a blast! Another player and I are Tanuki sharing a trench coat like the classic Three Kobolds, and it's perfect chaos. The week off for more prep is great, too. Can't wait for next time!
