like i can understand from the point of view that his motivations may have been tainted by knowing what she looks like but other than that idk.

So he gets in the pods, he at some point has to realize that this is the girl he followed many months ago and then he has to remember enough key details from her profile to manipulate her into marriage? there's a gap there somewhere. It just doesn't seem all the way plausible

flooding the market with books you've got no investment in as opposed to putting your weight behind a project also takes a lot of pressure off having to try and be good at your job as well.

per usual with the NYT, the horrors people are witnessing on their TLs and TV screens are stripped of all politics and human agency. Bad things simply happen and human interest stories follow. No one in power in the US is responsible for anything really
