A day spent in Medicine Hat and a quick photoshoot in Vulcan. I feel like I'm seeing a lot of the prairies on this trip!

I've been in Winnipeg for only a few hours but have managed to try a Fatboy from VJ's, an everything bagel donut from Oh Doughnuts, and some craft beer from Lake of the Woods. There is a Peddle Pub here lol

Noticed today that watermelon was placed near the cashiers where temptation foods and spontaneous choices are often placed. Not sure if this was for any conscientious purpose but it should be the norm!

Halifax has now lost Shige and Shuji, our two most beloved sushi pioneers. They will be missed dearly.

Is it fair to say Jacob's Lounge is low key one of the best pizzas in Halifax?

I made a California Clubhouse 😍
Bear River sourdough rye: one side spread with fig goat cheese, the other side with hummus and balsamic-tahini dressing. Stuffed with smoked tofu, avocado, shredded carrot, cucumber, tomato, sprouts. O.M.G.

My AI makes simple mathematical errors. Is this an issue with all AI? I find it can be a useful tool, but the errors can be crazy. Scary to think people rely on these...

The Lunenburg sausage at The Narrows Pub is much better than the first time I tried it. This place is still killing it overall.

Did my final chemistry presentation on testing for starch with iodine. In the process I discovered that mushrooms store energy as glycogen, not starch, and in this way they are closer to animals than plants.

Food lab today: this came out of my 100% meatloaf (control). The 15% tvp meatloaf was preferred because the tvp soaks up the tasty fat (counterintuitive in view of both flavour and health). Most acceptable was the 45% tvp meatloaf for both flavour and health trade-offs.

I've gotten into it with two drivers this week who decided they don't have to stop at crosswalks if the pedestrian doesn't push the button. Each instance involved buttons that were unreachable or broken. These are for visibility, not right-of-way, correct? @safehrm.bsky.social

Cake labs are always fun (at least the eating part). Now I have to write a lab report about the function of egg proteins - yay!

Been tinkering with this recipe for a while and I nailed it today. It's kind of a spicy peanut sesame miso egg drop soup with edamame noodles, shrimp and lots of veggies. Garnished with seaweed sprinkles and sesame seeds.

Recently made sauerkraut for the first time (in a specialized fermenting pot). It was scary but easy... And it's delicious! I used cabbage, daikon, cranberries and caraway. But now I'm noticing some fizzing... Is this normal? @philmoscovitch.bsky.social
