Enthusiastic boardgamer.
First play of Ostia. It's pretty interesting, if bit ap inducing. Have to try it again.

Brass Birmingham - still strong contender on my favourite list. Nice game today.

Finally has time to read the (good) rulebook and try Resafa, a Vladimir Suchy game. I enjoyed it. Streamlined play, cards for action selection, straightforward actions. Lots of points coming from everywhere. #boardgamesky

Ultimate Railroads with the Asia map. Great fun as always. I didn't well until I messed upgrade with the Gold track. 😅

Finally got to try Shogun no Katana. Very good game, but rule book was bit painful. It's a worker placement about forging swords. Collect resources and the route the swords thru your forge. Gets tricky!

Second play of SETI. Multiuse cards and fun theme. The aliens bring in their own set of rules also, when they are found.

Woodcraft has a steady spot in my favourites. I like the action selection and the tight resource management.
Afterwards learned new to me game Knarr.

Concordia Venus has loma been one of my favourite games. Yesterday we had nice game with 5 players.

Inventions Evolution of Ideas. I like the game a lot, but find it hard to play well. Didn't help that it was 6+ months since I last played.
The workflow of each action is clear and nearly all actions leave feeling of completing something.

Daitoshi, an interesting point salad with an action rondel.
With 4 players, we got nearly everything done. I need to play it again to really form an opinion.

Taught Civolution to friends. Got my first win on the second game! Some complaining about having to redo all plans due dice, but for me, it's not much a bother. Also. There are ways around it. Enjoyable game.

Scholars of the South Tigris is bit complex, but after one gets the flow, its very enjoyable game. It has cards and dice for action, lots of tracks and other players taking the scroll you were aiming for.

Calimala. Fun action repeat mechanism, very beige, easy to learn but very thinky when one tries to get most on scorings.

December: 40 different games played. Lots of fun had 💚
BG Stats used to record the plays and to create the image.

Saltfjord turned out to be one of those simple rules, lots of decisions type of games. Slide dice along a line and activate resources and actions. Build buildings to gain more actions, fulfill contracts, go fishing, develop technologies.
Overall I liked it and want to play again.

After 3 plays I'm liking Phoenix New Horizon more and more. Simple actions, lots of decisions, and many ways to collect points. A worker placement with a worker promotion mechanic.
December 29, 2024 at 4:05 PM
Tower Up is fun and fast game of building the highest scoring buildings. Points from completing goals and contributing to buildings. This was a surprise hit for me.

Brass Birmingham is already a classic and topping bgg chart. Build an industry empire via card based action selection and multiple loans. One of my top 3 games. It was great fun to play again. Playing a well familiar game has this cozy feeling...

Paladins of the West Kingdom is my favourite from West Kingdom trilogy. Very nice game with expansion today.
December 12, 2024 at 7:54 PM
Shipwrights of the North Sea Redux, a game of cards drafting and resource management to build the best ships in 5 rounds.
After drafting, everyone plays simultaneously. Not much player interaction. Familiar iconography for those who have played other Garphill Games trilogy games.

Boardgame today: Lorenzo il Magnifico. It's a very good worker placement and tableau builder with some dice thrown in the mix. Lots of cards, often tight on resources.
December 9, 2024 at 8:20 PM
One hundred plays of Tipperary. And I still want to play more. This is an awesome, short tile laying game with simultaneous turns. Everyone tries to build the best village.
December 8, 2024 at 4:55 PM
Happy Independence Day, Finland! Excellent way to celebrate was obviously to play board games 💚
Can someone name all four? Besides these, I also played Tipperary.
