Traveling, eating and experiencing cities through an urbanist perspective.

Walkable, bikeable, transit friendly cities and more housing. These are all interconnected

Americans suck at protests. We also suck at boycotting. But out of the two, I think what’ll take this administration down is boycott. A mass and continuous boycott of any US corporations you can. Only when their bottom line affected will they turn against this president.

My guess is most Americans vacation to “get away”. And when they return to the US, they miss the plazas of Europe & think “that was a nice getaway”. But now I have to get back to reality.

And if an opportunity came to build something they experienced in Europe near them, they’d probably fight it

As some of said here, it’s by design.

1. Get them in debt while they’re young
2. Keep wages low
3. Strip away healthcare
4. Keep cost of living high
5. Distract w/ social media/netflix
6. Distract w/ latest must have items to buy (then see no. 1)
7. Blame illegal immigrants for your problems

That is what’s sad. If you injure/ kill someone in your car, just be apologetic and give any of the 5 excuses drivers normally use to the police and you’ll off the hook.

Bike lanes often randomly just end or don’t connect to each other so they’ll probably be on the sidewalk anyways.

Maybe if there’s a ramp for bikes that might be a bit better.

I wish Sanders was 40yrs younger so he can continue to fight for us. I sometimes wonder how much longer his heart can take all of this.

So if the government opens up, I guess Johnson will have to swear in Adelita Grijalva?

Yup! It baffles me that with his money, why wouldn’t he want to make a meaningful impact in solving our world’s problems. I guess that’s why I’m not a billionaire. Or even a millionaire for that matter. You can’t be that rich and actually care about others.

Portland seems to do a decent job of push some of these big box retailers to the outer parts of the city like near PDX and Jantzen Beach and still provide public transit to these areas. I’ve accessed both areas by public transit and it’s doable.

Idk I hear a lot of cheering and see people waving and having their phones out. If he was booed, I wish it was significantly more apparent

Robot deliveries have been in Los Angeles for a number of years and they’re mostly on the sidewalks. I would assume it will be the same in Portland. These are publicly traded companies. Unless they can make a profit by pushing for better bike lanes, for now it’s still up to bike advocates.
