POV: You live in Eastern Europe, next door to Russia

I know it's rather unpopular and I know why ("let's turn EU into something between Syria, Mexico and Spanish Civil War", it's really a hard sell). I was just curious how exactly do you want to persuade the masses to join your cause.

Nobody ever had to "encourage Ukraine to join NATO", except maybe Putin. He also encouraged Sweden and Finland to join NATO.

They currently don't drown with mobiks, but with kontraktniks (in majority). WW2-style mobilization would tank their economy instantly, but contracts are doing the same, but slower. They started selling their gold reserves, meaning they're running out of money.

Quite interesting difference is that so far, one thing is actually happening and the other remains in the sphere of Trump's gibberspeak. He was also talking of invading Greenland and Canada, tomorrow he will talk of invading New Zealand.

I would of course happily slap 99% tax on Musk and regulate him into oblivion. The question is, how do you want to persuade average people like me (with medium salary, mediocre job etc.) to join your revolution. It would be easier to sell snow tires in Arabia.
November 21, 2025 at 8:45 AM
I'm suffering under capitalism, too. I was really curious how do you intend to win massive support for your revolution, but I think you know as good as I do it's simply impossible - so you'd rather avoid the question. Fair enough.
November 21, 2025 at 8:43 AM
So how is that "illustrating people" going? How many you managed to "illustrate why fighting towards socialism is important"?
November 20, 2025 at 8:42 PM
And yet you and me, we'd rather be exploited in European Union than relocate to Chiapas or Syria.
November 20, 2025 at 8:40 PM
I'm just saying this wonderful system is not something you want to actually live in. You prefer to enjoy capitalism, like any reasonable person would - and then send some help to those poor people experiencing the wonders of libertarian socialism.
November 20, 2025 at 8:38 PM
Maybe capitalism isn't working, but somehow magically we both communicate via corporate-owned and corporate-operated internet services. I'm also pretty sure tomorrow I'll buy some capitalist grocery and drink some capitalist coffee (probably you too).
November 20, 2025 at 8:23 PM
Neither is a place you would want to live in. They don't show that "libertarian socialist idea" work better for Average Person than you regular, European Union style capitalism (with regulations).
November 20, 2025 at 8:21 PM
"Stick to things that are actually working" is also a *well-grounded* school of thought
November 20, 2025 at 7:39 PM
As I already wrote, there were rather short-lived, so I will still count them as failures.
November 20, 2025 at 7:38 PM
It has also nothing to do with "solid theories". Solid theories exist only in exact sciences. Not in arts. Not in politics.
November 20, 2025 at 3:54 PM
So when I see a working example, I will say it's a brilliant invention.
November 20, 2025 at 3:53 PM
Also, orthodox churches operate on principle of autocephaly. If you are orthodox Christian in Poland that's fine, but you go to Polish Orthodox Church. In Russia to Russian, in Ukraine to Ukrainian. Orthodox Church of Ukraine is banned in Russia, too.
November 20, 2025 at 3:34 PM
I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm saying it does not exist.
November 20, 2025 at 2:16 PM
The point is, this other, supposedly better system (call it whatever you want) does not represent a single pixel. Because it just does not exist. When it does appear somewhere, I'll surely want to visit how it goes and is it really that good. But I can't, can I.
November 20, 2025 at 2:16 PM
There is no such thing as "solid political theory". Politics is not exact science. At best, political theories are as good as "theory of cinema".
November 20, 2025 at 2:14 PM
I can say it does not exist. Western capitalism, for all its deficiences, is still the best place to live in. All the alternatives existing today or in recent past are/were worse for Average Persons living there.
November 20, 2025 at 12:40 PM
Name it however you want. It still does not exist, like unicorns don't exist under any name.
November 20, 2025 at 12:38 PM
Like I said, I don't question the ideals. On the contrary, I'm waiting to see the first success story - a libertarian communist state that everyone would want to visit. I'm just noting it does not exist yet.
November 20, 2025 at 12:26 PM
But it is. In all your activism, you never considered seriously relocating to Chiapas or Nothern Syria. Because you have it better where you live (certainly I do).
November 20, 2025 at 12:12 PM
I'm usually pro-regulation, so of course I consider regulations as stepping stones to more regulation. The end goal for me is to make the living of Average Person (with medium income & wealth) as good as possible. Which usually means something like northern part of EU.
November 20, 2025 at 12:11 PM
...but it will get solemn promise of not being attacked, like in 1994!
