We have a mentoring program in AAAR but it seems to be focused on different groups: those with independent careers (post postdoc) connecting with grad students and postdocs.

Maybe this mentoring structure could be used in a different way, with more specific goals.

Yeah, I also dug into the map and saw that big operation on there... I wonder also about the emissions from the baseball field operations (it's in a baseball complex), raking/dragging/mowing at times... but yes the landfill is probably a huge player in the real big spikes.

I often tell people that my atmospheric chemistry PhD was spent mostly doing plumbing and electrical… which is not at all an exaggeration. I also did some chemistry.

Also I went to visit a friend at MPIC in Mainz a couple years ago, and while attempting to remember some conversational German, pulled out a a phrase in the Genitive case and I think revealed why I kept getting “found out”… the equivalent of reciting research grant language while ordering takeout.

I spoke pretty advanced German in college (look a lit course even) and when I tried speaking there others just spoke English back to me. lol.
