Please speak up for Rodney. A year in an ICE camp is beyond comprehension.

Public pressure works.

If enough people speak up, a life may be saved.

Many of the deaths in ICE custody have been due to medical neglect… let’s make sure Rodney isn’t one of them.
Help Rodney Taylor, a Disabled Double Amputee Being Held by ICE
Rodney has been in the country more than 40 years. He's in solitary confinement in Georgia, being denied disability accommodations and having his medical needs ignored. He must be released.

KBJ threaded the needle thanks to CA1’s unfinished business.

-if she denied the admin stay, the full SCOTUS woulda stepped in to override her.
-if she immediately referred the case to the full Court, they coulda dragged feet.
-instead she boxed them in to act quickly once she does refer the case.

Haven’t been able to learn why, because the details of how this execution is performed are kept under wraps. Maybe it’s because it’s less gradual, or maybe the subject isn’t able to breathe out carbon dioxide because of the mask?

I believe this is the premise they based this method on, like accidents in labs where nitrogen slowly replaces the air around the victim, and they pass out. But that doesn’t happen here: Sotomayor’s opinion here explains that the 7 times this method was used, the subject was awake for quite a while.

I was never under the impression that anyone literally on either side was ever like “hmm ok”. I’m not sure anything has ever been more suspicious actually

Like, in a 7-2, someone in the 7 will post the majority opinion, and someone in the 2, the dissenting opinion, but the existence of the dissenting opinion doesn’t change the ruling (if I understand right)

No, this is a “concurring opinion” that agrees with the court’s ruling, but seeks to establish a different reasoning than that of the opinion written for the majority. The written opinions are based on the ruling, but don’t affect them I believe.
