All, you've probably heard about HR 9495, and how Congress is acting *tomorrow*.

YOU: I’m calling on [HOUSE MEMBER] to reject HR 9495. As the bill currently stands, it would give the Executive Branch new powers that are ripe for abuse.
YOU: With the inclusion of the language from HR 6408 in HR 9495, any Secretary of the Treasury would have a dangerous new tool to curb free speech, censor nonprofit media outlets, and political opponents. It would also allow the IRS to target and harass domestic non-profits. This is absolutely not the type of precedent we want to be setting.
INCLUDE FOR HOUSE DEMS (OPTIONAL): Considering that President Trump has also repeatedly confirmed that he has an enemies list, we cannot move forward with giving him another tool that would help him accomplish his goals.
YOU: More to the point, there is already a federal stature that makes it illegal for non-profit groups to fund terrorist groups. This would be reinventing the wheel, and for purposes that clearly appear to be about helping the Executive Branch consolidate further powers.
