Doesn't matter what 'your problem' is, what matters is the reality of a policy of fear to drive up particular kinds of behaviours in the population at large. So far it's working pretty well for them.

It's not a quick fix, that's precisely why the assholes drive up fear. Makes it more difficult to engage in effective action.
