NHS App back in the news and I'm not one to miss an opportunity to reheat my favourite graphic. (Other icebergs are available) What's fascinating in the app's case is that it probably needed a simple 'solution-first' strategy to provide the political drive to do the alignment in the background.
The image is a visual metaphor using an iceberg to illustrate a point about software development. The Iceberg: Above the Water: We see a sleek yacht, representing a simple, user-friendly feature in the NHS App. This is what's immediately visible and accessible to the public. Below the Water: The vast majority of the iceberg lies hidden beneath the surface. Saw this coffee brand in the states once, so bought my mam these for her birthday as a novelty gift. Really can’t tell if it’s parody or not. Particularly the last paragraph in the description.

In the coming election year I think we'll hear lots of views on where the future of the NHS App lies. If there was one piece of advice I'd have it's "choose wisely". A seemingly simple could well require fundamental changes to infra, service design, and op models across thousands of orgs...
