Kirby Air Riders acquired! The original on Gamecube is probably one of my most played games of all time - I can’t believe after all this time they’ve made a sequel, and now I’ve got it!! I’m so excited!!!!

After my 12 year old iPod Touch finally packed in recently, I picked up a modern audio player to replace it & decided on a FiiO JM21. I’m really liking it! It’s cheap, cute, runs Android so you can download streaming apps like Bandcamp, runs off a micro SD (I got 256gb), it’s just dead good!

Huge thanks to the news bulletin on BBC 6 Music for warning us about all those dangerous pensioners on the loose out there

Watched this tonight for the first time in many years - lots of spooky fun! 👻

I recently saw Velvet Goldmine for the first time, with Ewan McGregor doing his best Iggy Pop impression, and uh, wow

I’ve had this sticker from Thonk prominently on my MS-20 for a long time now. I don’t think they make them anymore, sadly, but it’s an excellent sticker’s

My next walking tour is coming up fast, on Sat 18th October! It’s a departure for me - this time, rather than modernist architecture, I’m taking people around the Town Moor to learn both about its history, but also the history and politics of land ownership.

Obviously the Apollo Pavilion is the star attraction, but there’s plenty more brilliance and weirdness in the surrounding estates & town centre. I also somehow seemed to make quite a stir - I’ve never turned so many heads (?!) & got stopped twice by security in the town centre! Bizarre!

Took myself off to Peterlee today to check over the route I’ll be taking people on this weekend for The Modernist’s Newcastle Weekender! You can get tickets here: the-modernist.org/collections/...

My TV - which has been in constant use since 2012 - finally gave up the ghost today, turned itself off and won’t switch back on. But trying to read reviews for a replacement - EVERY review for EVERY TV says “ehh it’s not great, you can get better for your money”?!? So what do I buy?!??!!

I’m a big fan of these old steps in the Ouseburn, sort of hidden in plain sight. They’re here on this map from 1894, just above the Duke Of York pub

I’ve been thinking lots about this old Tamagotchi plush I got from eBay many years ago - it’s a reversible Kuchipatchi on one side, and a plush Tamagotchi on the other! I tried to find photos online the other day but couldn’t find anything, so I had to dig mine out from my stuff at my parents

I got an advert on Facebook saying the new Kirby Switch 2 upgrade pack is out now, and I can’t tell you how heartbroken I was to find out it isn’t actually out for another month 😭 Don’t do this to me, Nintendo!!!

And there’s Mark Webber from Pulp playing theirs!

I got one off eBay when I was a teenager for like, £45, and though the second stylus doesn’t work it’s my absolute pride & joy.

Oh by the way I went to London to see Pulp on Friday and it was mind-blowingly good. I feel like I’m still in awe from it.

Wow today was bad in multiple ways BUT it did also involve going paddling with my dog, so I’m holding onto that

It was also painfully hot in London so here’s a rare sighting of me in shorts

Went down to London to see Pulp at the O2 on Friday and they were, fairly predictably, utterly amazing. What a brilliant, brilliant band!

Played in a very cool historic art gallery for 4 hours on Saturday night & it was lots of fun (as was buying my tea from the Co-Op in my overalls)

@plutopress.bsky.social I realise this is probably a fruitless request - but will you ever do another run of the Transgender Marxism pins? Or any chance you’ve got any lingering in drawers or down the back of the office sofa? Genuinely one of my greatest regrets is missing out on them 😭

Spent too long outside in the sun yesterday, gave myself heat exhaustion & had to come home from work today like some kind of idiot. Now I’m drinking Lucozade & watching Sarah Jane Adventures until I feel better
