This is so cool! I knew something similar had to be done before. My inspiration came from the Python library Datashader and the Holoviz tutorial on visualizing attractors, as the one attached.

ProteinCHAOS runs entirely in the browser and lets you choose how to visualize your protein structures.
It supports PDB files from the PDB and AlphaFold servers and offers several visual themes so you can "paint" abstract art with protein traces. I hope it helps you create some interesting images!

Proteins are dynamic structures, but structural biology often shows them as static snapshots. Inspired by long-exposure photography and generative art, I built ProteinCHAOS, an artistic tool inspired by molecular dynamics to capture protein flexibility over time, much like long-exposure images.

5/5: I always welcome suggestions and help. Please reach out if you are interested or have some good ideas for improvements. Happy structure determination! #cryoEM #Relion #teamtomo

3/5: The plotting quality has also been normalized, ensuring the UI is uniform between different job types. The dashboard now includes data selection functionality where STAR files can be plotted and subsets selected. Overall, many quality-of-life adjustments were implemented.

2/5: It now provides previews and statistics plotting for most job types supported by the software. I've optimized the code to be more modular and increased its speed, plus added support for all #teamtomo jobs.

1/5: Over the last few months, I have been working on an update for the #FollowRelionGracefully dashboard, which offers improved real-time job previews for #cryoEM #Relion jobs.

I updated the metadata extraction from PubMed files, improving the abstracts in the [MSS]. However, only 70% of PubMed entries include abstracts, limiting their contribution to semantic search. To test the new database, check here: mssearch.xyz

arXiv was added to Manuscript Semantic Search [MSS] (database updated 250216)! Check it here: mssearch.xyz

Someone stole the front wheel from my bike. Not only is the bike now useless, but it’s also causing chaos for me and my wife as we juggle picking up our child from daycare with just one car. Who even needs a random wheel? People have no idea how their shitty actions ruin others’ lives.

My PhD mentor is giving a farewell symposium this Friday. I cannot attend (sadly) but if you are around I would encourage you to see the fantastic science Rudi's lab was doing over the last 30 years! #cryoem #biophysics #ethz

There's a new toy in the lab! I’ve been dreaming of acquiring a Prometheus for a long time (since my PhD), and we finally managed to purchase one at the #LaJollaInstitute. I can't wait to start characterizing our glycoproteins with it! #biophysics #cryoem #proteinfolding

PDB molecule of the month: measles virus proteins. **Measles is back**. We do not have any treatment against active measles infection. Further research is necessary to understand how MeV infects human cells.
