There’s this assumed objectivity of technology. We understand that humans have agency and so if someone starts buttering you up you can surmise they have an agenda.
But people assume all computers are as trustworthy as calculators, and so an LLM saying something reads as equivalently true as 2+2=4.

To this day it still boggles my mind that there are people out there who will INSIST Evangelion, for example, makes zero sense because they focused entirely on background details and not the very simple things the show was actually saying with its characters.
