American spelling is different from British spelling because Noah Webster (writer of the Webster Dictionary in 1828) wanted to not only to symbolize independence but also attempt to raise literacy rates by creating phonetic spellings rather than traditional ones (Color vs colour)

I have a literature degree and adore classic literature, I even analyze books for fun. I also have read a single scholastic book so many times the cover is falling off and I can quote it from memory.

Just bc you can read a grown up book doesn't mean you cant also read ones you just simply enjoy

This happened to me while I was in college. I read so much for my degree the last thing I wanted to do was read in my spare time. Once I graduated I started exploring genres I didn’t read much of before. It took a bit and I dnf a lot but eventually I found one that hooked me again!

One of my biggest regrets was taking all my electives in classical and ancient literature. I should have spent my time taking things like squirrel biology (yes thats a real class) and the impact of harry potter on the modern reader. I hated college by the end bc i was so so tired of deep analysis
