I toot for me.

Utility bicycling, playing cards, and grumpy shitposts. Transphobes and fascists can get wrecked.

Things I loathe doing but are very financially responsible uses of my time: Selling shit off and negotiating on big purchases. A “trick” I use to force myself to do them is considering it in terms of hourly wage.

20 minutes to sell something for $50 instead of giving it away? That’s a $150/hr […]

Weird how fantasies where “anything can happen” so often seem to mean: “where white men can have even more power”

“109… 110… 111… 112… What is after 112?”
“113.”
“No… that’s not right. A billion! That’s it! A billion one… a billion two… a billion three…”

I hadn’t realized that the AIDS quilt panels images were online: https://www.aidsmemorial.org/interactive-aids-quilt. Over the last few days, I’ve been looking up people I knew, and remembering those times.

Just a few months after a kind, heroic nurse at St Vincent’s Hospital allowed me in […]

Reading Witchlings with the eldest and it is really fun to get to experience it with her. It’s our first long book. Also, would recommend. It has some stuff in there you might need to have a Chat about, but I’m digging what it’s laying down. We just finished book 1 and already have books 2 and 3 […]

When people use yt to describe skin colour, I usually misread it as YouTube on the first pass. It is surprising how often whatever sentiment is being expressed still works.

It’s speaks to Americans’ pessimism regarding their cooking prowess that they call them burners instead of hobs.

Only a matter of time before they figure out how to insert sponsored advertising into LLM replies and then it will get even worse and be shoved even further down our throats

13 years ago, my partner and I bought some cheap wooden spoons in a pound shop. They remarked that they seemed sturdy, and might be the spoons our children would play with. At the time, I laughed about it. But every time one of those wooden spoons snapped in the years that followed, I thought […]

Hyper-specific book I don’t think exists but I would buy if it did: A book describing, with pictures, all the various systems and tools that people have used to track scores in games.

Tall children have a biological advantage in basketball & should be banned from playing high-school ball. It's not fair to the other students.

Just need to scream a little bit about how there are actually hard limits to how much stuff we can have in orbit without severe consequences! It's ok to say that out loud, even if the techbros don't want to hear it!

It's ok (and vitally important) to have in your list of recommendations for […]

I don’t know much about Christianity but I bet the innkeeper’s wife was like, “Umm, those hippies you let sleep in the manger are throwing a party. I just saw like three dudes show up carrying strange stuff, probably drugs. Should we call the legion??”

I think it would be “fun” to streamline Piquet and give it a union mediation theme — it fits almost too well — and call it “Picket!” …but I don’t like what I’ve tried of Piquet, so I’d really only be doing it for the joke of the thing.

I’ve always felt it’s messed up that “square” gets a special, short name but equilateral triangle doesn’t. It should be called a “forg” or something. “Oh yeah, you can fit six forgs in a hexagon,” we’d say.

If you imagine your location on earth, are you centered? If not, what is the center?

For me, I realized that I “see” myself as being to the left, west, with the center of my mental map somewhere around Montana.

The benefit to living in a small town away from major cities is that I only found out about Labubus from city-dwelling, consumerist coworkers. I still have not seen one with my own eyes, but I did see some knock-offs in Canadian Tire that were called Babalus or something.

I would rather that […]

So. I didn’t realize it was Black Friday weekend, and ventured out. Anyway, London Drugs has three very good co-operative card games: Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring Trick Taking Game, The Gang, and The Crew: Mission Deep Sea. All 20% off for Black Friday. Pretty cool to see. (In our […]

I spend too much time puzzling over how dominoes have one number on one side and then a different number (potentially!) on the other side.

I mean this literally.
