The Chancellor made a bold claim today that this parliament will see the biggest reduction in child poverty since records began.

If the Budget doc projection of child poverty falling by 400,000 is right, so is the claim. Removing the two child limit is pivotal to this reduction.
Chancellor said lifting 2-child limit means "Biggest reduction in child poverty over a Parliament since records began." Estimated 400k reduction would be, but modelling is always uncertain. What is certain is that removing the 2 Child Limit is pivotal to the fall.

For screen readers to recognize headings, heading text can't just be body text or normal text that's been made to look bigger and bolder. It must be formatted as a heading. In Microsoft Word and Google Docs, this can be done in the styles box. In HTML, use the tags h1 through h6.

New report: Taxing landlords more is good, actually.

Since 2016, tax reforms helped slash the growth of the private rented sector and boosted first-time buyers—without hurting existing tenants.

Today, Ofgem announced the energy price cap will rise by 2% from October.

Energy bills are already unaffordable in the UK, so what does this mean for families who are struggling now?

Last week I went up to Grizedale Forest to visit Taking a Wall for a Walk. Possibly the most famous sculpture in the forest. Quite overgrown (in a good way) since I first visited, heck that photo was on 35mm

Many struggle with writing alt text for charts and other other data visualizations. Amy Cesal's "Writing Alt Text for Data Visualization" hammers home the importance of explaining the chart type, the type of data, and the reason for the chart.

How do you write text that conveys the whole meaning of a visualization? You probably can’t. But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try

My first proper commission - I actually got paid to write something 🤯 I wrote a little piece for @beelitmag.bsky.social about why I can't wear tracksuit anymore. Class has a uniform - prove me wrong.
"Class has a uniform," writes Matt Taylor. "Whenever I slip back into a tracksuit, Tesco staff follow me around the store, and the cashiers ask for ID. If I go for a run, police stop me and ask why I’m running."

He writes for us about clothing and class today:

Much of the Government's intention for cutting PIP and UC is to motivate people to find a job

But cutting social security can't 'incentivise' people into jobs that don't exist

New @jrf-uk.bsky.social analysis shows there are simply too few jobs for the Government's argument to hold
