Remember when we heard from Bannon's former landlord in Florida about how Bannon completely fucked their jacuzzi up and they found acid and organic matter in it?

I've never done an eligibility post before.

Be gentle. Share and share alike.

Any consideration when it comes time for awards is greatly appreciated.

You can pick up Iconoclast right now for 40% off via Kobo's 40% off November sale with the code NOVEMBER40.

There are other books, too, but you know. You should buy mine if you haven't already. It's Kobo and DRM-free, so you can just download it and take it anywhere.

What poster did you have hanging in your room as a kid?

So, this show got like one season and the toys were in the clearance aisle, so my dad bought me all of them. They came with these posters and made a big ole image. Had it up until we moved when I was 15.

A lovely signed version of @thomasha.bsky.social's Uncertain Sons from @undertow.bsky.social has made it to my mailbox today.

Have you ordered your copy yet? It's stellar.

I dunno what you're trying to sell me on here, but I don't need that specific number of words in my inbox, random spammy thing.

Kids are back in school. I'm unencumbered. That means I'm back on my bullshit in the mountains.

Original quote in the front of Iconoclast was Gkar.

Changed it because I don't trust WB (not that anyone will notice, but still), and swapped to Carlin as my old band quoted Carlin clips and his estate's response to our request was "who gives a shit? Do whatever you want."

I'm not letting this one go.

Almost 2am, dark room, headphones. Gotta do it.

Okay, it's probably time to up the difficulty.

I haven't had a failed run in a few days now. I had the advanced edition off for a while because the boss ship has four shield bubbles, but even with it on I'm doing really well.

Add a Kestrel victory for number four.

You think we're done? Victory number three comes two days later while I should be working.

The #discourse around Murakami has only intensified with time. Is he problematic? Is he aloof? Is he overrated? Are his translations specifically guided by western publishers to appeal in a certain way?

This book felt like his most earnest about himself and his work. I love it.

I don't think this is many's favorite Philip K. Dick, and I loved this book when I was younger. The older I get and more I know about the author, the more I view his books differently. That being said, this book is madness and blurs lines between reality and fiction so well.

I've always liked STJM's books, but they've never really stuck with me until this one. Weaving in parts of Station Eleven and Glass Hotel together into a daring narrative made for one helluva book.

A strange, touching book that's such a great meditation on grief. I was so upset that Saunders hadn't released another full length, so I'm very pumped he's got one coming out soon.
July 28, 2025 at 5:53 PM
There's so much in this book. I failed at reading it when I was younger, but came back to it in 2023. Just an immense achievement. Progressive, hilarious, weird, gross, thoughtful, and so many other superlatives.
July 28, 2025 at 5:28 PM
I'll recommend this book until I'm blue in the face. The writing is staggering (by proxy, so is the English translation). It's an unflinching look at poverty, bigotry and how complicated extreme poverty is.

Each chapter is just one glorious, massive sentence. It's like being on a rollercoaster.
