The segment seems to contradict Bari’s assertion that the Trump administration didn’t respond to request for comment. Per the report, 60 Minutes reached out to DHS who declined a request for an interview and referred all questions about CECOT to El Salvador.

Out of curiosity, how far back is ‘the past’ that you and @peark.es are comparing to? I think a lot of sentiment is driven by sense of precarity and I do think people’s relationship with employers is now more “they’re looking for an excuse to cut costs by firing us” than was the case 45 years ago

Decent chunk of it is also that the brand of conservative folks in those circles encounter growing up is different (Romneyesque, economic, covers any culture war stuff with rhetoric and politesse) vs guns/God/open culture war)
