Backstory: My wife is an artist and tables at a few comic cons. In all the cons we’ve been to, neither of us has ever paid to meet a celebrity. That changed today. Travis was so kind to everyone in line and I was ecstatic to get to meet him. #CriticalRole

I don’t like it, but I’m expecting the government shutdown will end with Democrats caving to pass a Republican budget. Republicans are willing to let people starve and I think Democrats won’t be willing to sit by and watch. Republicans will likely “win” by effectively laying siege to the USA.

I have been looking for a new job and had an offer that was a great fit at a small family-owned company.
It didn’t work out because of health insurance. They’re a small company with no bargaining power. Premiums would be $15k/year MORE than what I pay now.
Insurance in the USA sucks.

It seems like small potatoes compared to **gestures widely** everything right now, but I found out I won’t be getting a job I wanted. Not because I’m not a good candidate. Not because they didn’t want me. Just because my current non-compete is so broad it causes problems even for different markets.

I really can’t even be upset that Canada beat the US in the 4 Nations Face Off. Rooting for the US felt a bit like cheering for the Russians while watching Miracle. Deep down most of us want democracy to beat dictatorship.

Yesterday my alma mater fired a generally well liked professor over politics. Subsequently the faculty passed a vote of no confidence in the university president.

I cannot understand how any politicians can claim to champion Christian values and yet want to withhold emergency relief aid to use as a political bargaining chip.
