Everyone* in the public sector has lost about 33% in real terms since 2008. The years of pay freezes and <1% increases was not limited to the NHS.

*Except for junior doctors who have had to change their job title in the hope that people forget they got 20% recently but are still striking for more.

Plus the spending increase isn't in-year. It comes, staged, over the course of this Parliament. As it does trickle in, 95% of the increase will go to industry, not onto making the military larger. The company execs know this.

It isn't just Scotland. It's nationwide. 😞

Sound argument. Well written. In short, Brown is spot on.

Malicious compliance is one of the finest forms of resistance.

As a policy/procurement specialist, Lagasse's proposals can't add to the bureaucracy crippling that part of MOD, or spread it into real-time operations. Being a red card holder is already challenging enough without Vietnam War era political intervention. We need a military accountable but empowered.

"Innocent until proven guilty."

Without a legal judgement, it is technically an opinion. One well founded on a mountain of evidence which most people can see. BBC must censor some opinions. It could have been resolved by stating, at the start, the lecture's use of fact & opinion.

Then BBC would have no responsibility for anything broadcast, as long as it wasn't a BBC employee.

Maybe a stricter and clearer delineation between fact and opinion. Onscreen indicators during news programmes. Without a legal decision, it's a fair opinion that Trump is the most openly corrupt POTUS

Next, either:

A. The coroner is charged for breach of the court order, showing the cops are corrupt.
B. The coroner isn't charged, showing the cops are incompetent.

They've had time to gather forensics & investigate fully. They should be past having a suspect by now.

It is good to see that the MPs appear to have seen through Shah & his cronies. It may be a valid concern voiced by Dame Caroline about cutting away board members at the same time as having no DG or HD of News, but a clean sweep now would still be a positive way to reinforce the BBC's impartiality.

An interesting roundup of some papers over the past few years may be worth a watch.

Personally, I'm with you. Mathematics of the near (or actual) infinities makes intelligent life elsewhere a practical certainty. Equally, it makes it unlikely to be anywhere near us.

Except DOGE cost more than it saved and will cost many, many times more to repair over the coming decades.

"Ooops! All Lilis" is a valid deck choice.

"Ooops! All Jaces" is just sad.

No such thing as war criminals to this regime. That's why they target the ICJ with sanctions more ardently than they target Russia.

MAGA chooses to be blind as long as they're "beating the libs."

I regretfully agree. It looks like there is plenty of climbing before we even catch sight of Peak Crazy. We're in the foothills of stupidity at the moment, yet to reach the North Face of Desperation.
November 24, 2025 at 2:04 PM
Look at it this way, at least there may be some more juicy Russian targets moving within range...

There are negotiations between a Russian enclave and Ukraine...

You don't have a dog and bark yourself.

Russia has no need or interest in being at the table. The US is working to get everything Russia wants.
November 24, 2025 at 1:57 PM
In what way is DPRK "contained", other than by its own containment policies?

When will there be a "...good leader of the U.S." who will be able to "contain" Russia?

Yes, he really is that stupid.
