In my bio I talk about making very small comics. This is my You’ve Got Time comic journal project. It is a 3.5x5” sketchbook I’ve been drawing day in the life comics on & off since 2011. Below are some selections & the exterior/interior of the cover. I have plenty more pages to fill w/my comics.

The interior cover of the small comics sketchbook with a post-it note ballpoint pen illustration of myself (a woman then in her 30’s) with long dark hair parted on the side with light front highlights. Her hair is frizzy and messy, she is topless (nipple censored since Bsky wanted to put a warning on a post with a photo of my body). She has a nautical star pentagram tattoo on her sternum. The face is comically cartoonish with two dots as eyes and no nose and a big muppety looking frown. Above that it says, “A comic style journal I started in 2011. Better late than ever.<3 N.M. ^*^ 2011 - ????” The first page of the comic is an illustration of a person who is being warped/stretched and pulled into a black hole in the top right corner. The person is wearing a tshirt that says Black Hole (listen I was obsessed with Charles Burns Black Hole comic). I started this in 2011 and finished the inking in 2024. A small 3.5”x5” sketchbook comic with a spiral binding. A portrait justified single panel comic with a view directly down from above. The panel shows a woman in jeans, boots, a hoodie, a denim jacket, scarf, and a messenger bag lying flat on her back after having fallen on the slippery wet floor of a city bus. On either side of her pained contorted body are bus seats including one with a person sitting there trying to ignore the busted woman laying there. The top of the panel says, “ 01/01/2012 - HEY, 2012, THANKS!” and the bottom says, “First time out of the house!” A small 3.5”x5” sketchbook comic with a landscape justified 2 panel comic. The panel on the left has a pen & ink sketch of a 100 yr old farm house with a large front porch and a wooden fence. You can see 3 very small silhouettes of cats. The panel reads vertically down the left side October 29th, 2025. Then down the left side, “We bought a house.” Across the bottom of that panel, “I’m too nervous to try too hard drawing it for the 1st time.” The second panel has a round striped cat in the center labeled “Dorian” with a small black cat with a white chest patch popping up behind it labeled “Cousin Larry,” and in the foreground a round faced torti cat with big round eyes with enlarged pupils (trust me she just always looks like that) who is labeled “Michael Torti.” Across the top of the panel it says, “It came with friends.” We are truly la Maison du chat.

At the bottom however the stone has a large spot of strange erosion on it going deep into it in a cave like shape. Behind this focal point headstone are many other closely plotted graves and a blue sky.The left of frame has skeletal bare spring tree branches. A photo of concrete stairs in the sun. A black metal railing trails along next to them casting a disjointed shadow Asian them. On the other side of the black railing are green shrubs and brown ornamental grass still recovering from winter.

My lovely wife @tactilemuse.bsky.social took a picture of this piece I finished last year. I decided to experiment with some gouache colors and airbrush. This was kind of a silly homage to those cardboard Halloween decorations teachers put up in the 80s and 90s in the classroom.

Last night I had this idea for a parody of one of my favorites from when I was a kid. Grover was/is my favorite muppet & so I drew myself as one lamenting the 2024/2025 mental health struggle I’ve been having. I’ve also posted the original along with it for comparison. If I don’t laugh I’ll scream.
A parody of the Seasame Street book “The Monster at the end of this book” called “The Monster inside of my Brain; starring Anxiety, Depression, & Agoraphobia. Brought to you by Desperation & Fear.” In place of Grover is a muppet of me! She has pigtails, a nostril piercing, and a septum ring. She has her arms thrown into the air staring up into the sky lamenting her current mental health struggles and instead of the word bubble saying, “HELLO, EVERYBODEEE!” It says “HELP, ANYBODEEE!!” The book cover for the Sesame Street book “The Monster at the end of this book.” Starring Grover.

Since I’ve not been able to do much over the last 60+ days, I did an illustration about what I feel like when I’ve got some sort of headache/migraine. It’s taken a while to complete, but I’m pleased. I don’t think I captured quite how old/tired I am, but I’ll allow myself a little vanity here.
