If you enjoy it you’re doing it right. That’s the benefit of being a nerd and working on something interesting! 😄

The meta key was/is an additional modifier key, like shift, alt, and ctrl. Makes sense to me that Command/Windows get reported that way. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meta_key

I've now realised Vibe Coding can help overcome such early struggles, and help people get and keep interested in programming. And because of that I think it's a Good Thing™. (8/8)

2 years ago, the young daughter of a friend asked me to teach her some programming basics. I struggled to find a good entry that quickly gives satisfying results, like I had in the 80s with BASIC & some graphic programming. It got boring for her pretty soon, so much work for so little result. (7/8)

(Also, I think it's a blessing to get rid of a lot manual tasks by asking an AI to do them, so I can focus on the program structure and design.) (6/8)

So the Vibe Coders are going to learn from the mistakes they make (and that their tools make), and how to avoid them, just like "we" did. Only in a different way. (5/8)

On the plus side, a lot of code I've seen generated by ChatGPT and the like already did a decent amount of error handling, something newbies often neglect in my experience. (4/8)

A lot of people (I sure do) learn by making mistakes: why is my program so slow, why is it so ugly and hard to maintain, etc. I doubt this to be much different with "traditional" ways of learning to code and Vibe Coding. (3/8)

When I learned coding in the 80s, I bought magazines with code listings and manually typed them in, without understanding what it does. Vibe Coding is not that different, but it's faster and more target-oriented. (2/8)
