It's darkly funny how some people will try very hard to make Trump's motives make sense, some actual geopolitical rationale for trampling all over self-determination and pissing off our best allies, and then he just comes right out and says he wants Canada and Greenland so the maps look prettier.

Yes, beyond everything that is happening. The attack on the American republic, the coming economic carnage, this is a day of great, great shame that we have targeted and attacked our dearest friends and partners.
"We have fought and died alongside you....During your darkest hours...we were always there. Standing with you, grieving with you, the American people.” I’ve had my differences with Justin Trudeau, for sure, but he rose to the occasion here.
