You have to actively opt out of jury service, giving an acceptable reason. For instance, I have been called for Jury Service twice but did get excused the 2nd time on medical grounds but had to provide a doctor's certificate.

What is your view on people avoiding jury service? A mandatory civic duty that improves society.

Voting is civic duty to. By not voting, you are mute. Your representatives can't hear you when you say nothing. As a Non-voter yo insult your forebears who fought hard for the right to vote.
