The UK’s democratic economy has massive untapped potential🏅
With impressive new-start resilience stats and growing membership numbers - reaching 68.8 million - #coops are here to stay (we just need more!)📈 A compelling case for more co-operatives and mutuals is right this way: www.uk.coop/economy

Ownership is the core issue, not just bad management - more #SocialEnterprise, more #Cooperatives, more #Democracy.
There must be consequences for wilful vandalism of our environment, but this doesn't address the fundamental issue of ownership.

90% of the world run water in public hands. By sticking with privatisation our govt is putting ideology ahead of pragmatism.

In Manchester, where buses have been in public control since January, average fares have reduced by 15%, usage is up 4% on the year, punctuality is up on major routes by ~80%, and revenue is 4% over target.

Public control is good start - next stop public ownership!

Why do politicians still cling to failed privatisation dogma? Privatised water is weird and bad for people, planet and the economy.

(In Scotland we have better, nationalised water, though it does need to be democratised)
The privatised water system is a stitch-up. Shareholders have received £78bn over the last 35 years, much of which has been siphoned off overseas, while bills have ballooned, writes @timsmedley.bsky.social.

Prevalent economic systems throughout the world's history have featured relationships that are oppressive.

Slavery: Master/Slave.

Feudalism: Lord/Serf.

Capitalism: Employer/Employee.

Is there a next step in humanity's economic evolution? How about a relationship where everyone is equal?

Hmm.
