I dunno. I'm just ranting now, I guess. Every new console launch reminds me of the expense, the difficulty, and how the devs themselves often find so much of what they love always just slightly out of reach.

Jennifer and I have taken to doing a crossword puzzle nightly. I’ll end up riffing on the clues and sketching in my book and… well… doing things like this.

This week’s adventures in baking included a Basque cheesecake, a honey oatmeal loaf, and a peanut butter bread with mini chocolate chips.

I also carved a paisley pattern into an eraser this week.

My adventures in baking for this week included a honey oatmeal loaf (very nice!) and a cherry crumble.

I also made another carved eraser stamp, which was fun.

This week’s adventures in baking include buttermilk scones with candied citrus peel and PB&J crumble bars.

I also made another eraser stamp. It’s not great, but I’m definitely having fun & learning. It’s all good! 😊
A buttermilk scone with candied citrus peel. I added butter and some local blueberry honey to it. My accompanying beverage is a rooibos tea. A PB&J crumble bar. The jelly is standard Concord grape. These were a huge hit at home and very simple to make! The accompanying beverage is an apple chamomile tea with a splash of milk. An eraser carved into a stamp. The accompanying stamp image is next to it. The image came out a little blurry due to uneven pressure, too much fine detail in the stamp, and too much ink. It’s a waning moon crescent, surrounded by a ring of stars, with other decorative element surrounding it. I tried to fit in a bit too much for that wee Pink Pearl eraser!

Adventures in baking for this weekend included coconut cookies and a French boule. Good stuff!

I’m also trying out carved eraser printing, with my first being a take on the Maya glyph for “fire.”
A cup of tea and a from-scratch coconut cookie. Preppy Kitchen on YouTube has the recipe for these cookies. They’re great! A French boule loaf, with a slice cut and buttered. The recipe is very simple, from John Kirkwood’s YouTube channel. The site profoodhomemade.com also has the recipe. A carved eraser of the Maya glyph for fire (K’ak), with stylized supporting elements, along with a print of that glyph in the post author’s sketchbook.

2. I like the fanciful fezzes made by Fez-O-Rama. This one is my Mari Lwyd fez, which I got for this past Christmas season! It is perched on a Stardew Valley chicken, which was one of last year's Xmas presents.

1. I like my mandola. While my Eastman isn't super fancy, it's a pretty instrument and it has a lovely tone. I hope to get good enough on it to play with the local bluegrass club!

One of my proudest professional achievements of ‘23-‘24 was working with Unity, Mobius, & Annapurna Interactive to release the Switch version of Outer Wilds. Wonderful teams, and a wonderful game!

Mobius was kind enough to send physical copies of the Switch and PS5 versions to me. I ❤️ that team!

Pretty happy with this English bloomer loaf that I baked on the 23rd. Can confirm that it tastes great.
