i think GdT's gone into the Tim Burton cul-de-sac of 'yeah but do you actually CARE about this story, or dyou just think it's cool and what's expected of you?'

i think like with a lot of classics, you just run out of 'takes' if you remain faithful, and if you don't then you're just 'telling a different-ass story'. and so many versions want to do both, so don't commit enough to either.

i was thinking today about how many 're-imaginings' of classics are simply not, and tbf what you're describing is exactly that.

i mean, it does feel more innately compelling to me that VF seeks to create life *specifically to defy the finality of death*, not just to make something new? like, his tragedy is that he's choosing denial over acceptance/moving forward.
not that yours isn't an interesting idea though.

'most' because another bunch of skin was made into a medical bag for the same Dr Osborne, and that has never been found.

Some of his skin was made into a pair of shoes for one of the doctors, John Eugene Osborne, who wore them to his inauguration ball when he was elected governor of Wyoming.
These were later found in a barrel in the other doctor's backyard together with most of BGNP's remains.

BNGP's mortal remains then came into possession of a couple of doctors, and that's where the real fun started:
After being sawn off, the top of his skull was given to a medical assistant (Lillian Heath, later Wyoming's first female doctor), who used it as a pen-holder, ashtray and doorstop.

BNGP overpowered his jailor in Wyoming and tried to escape, only to be recaptured at gunpoint by the jailor's wife.
A gang then broke into the prison and rather unnecessarily lynched him.

don't feel bad for him though, because Big Nose George Parrott (BNGP) was a legit Wild West murderer and armed robber, who got arrested after drunkenly boasting about his murders and robberies in a very legit Wild West idiot way.
