Hey, things are awful, we're all stressed, but it's still good to read books and encourage others to read, especially nonreaders. Reading novels can build empathy, and we could use even more empathy right about now.

DHS Is Lying To You About ICE Shooting a Woman
At least four videos show what really happened when ICE shot a woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday. DHS has established itself as an agency that cannot be trusted to live in or present reality.

End the Killings: States Must Unite to Stop Lawless ICE Operations
Text SIGN PQZSKS to 50409 — On January 24, 2026, federal immigration agents shot and killed Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse and U.S. citizen, on a public street in Minneapolis. Multiple verified videos show Pretti holding a phone, not a weapon, as agents pepper-sprayed him, forced him to the ground, disarmed him, and then fired repeatedly into his body. This killing followed another fatal shooting by federal agents in Minneapolis just weeks earlier. Together, these deaths represent a terrifying escalation: heavily armed federal agents operating inside American cities with little regard for civilian safety, constitutional rights, or local authority. State and local officials in Minnesota have condemned these actions. Governors and mayors have warned that federal enforcement teams are acting with impunity, obstructing state investigations, and refusing to cooperate with lawful oversight. This is not law enforcement—it is a breakdown of accountability. While immigration enforcement is a federal responsibility, states are not required to accept federal actions that endanger residents, undermine public trust, or interfere with state law enforcement and judicial processes. State governments retain significant power over cooperation, access, and authorization within their borders. I urge you, as a state legislator, to act immediately and in coordination with lawmakers across the country to form a unified response. Specifically, I ask that you: • Join with other states in formally opposing the continued deployment of ICE and related federal enforcement operations that have resulted in civilian deaths. • Adopt or support resolutions asserting state authority over cooperation with federal agents and rejecting operations that violate constitutional norms or public safety. • Protect the right of residents to record law enforcement activity in public spaces without fear of violence or retaliation. • Call on your governor to work with other governors—across party lines—to demand the withdrawal of ICE from states where its presence has led to bloodshed. Governor JB Pritzker has already called on governors and legislatures nationwide to stand together against what he described as lawlessness inflicted on the states. That call should not stand alone. When federal power is abused, the Constitution does not demand silence—it demands action. No American should be killed for filming law enforcement or helping another person off the ground. No state should be forced to tolerate federal agents who operate above the law. Unity among the states is not only justified—it is necessary. Please act now to help stop the killings and restore accountability.

🖋️ “Trump’s Unauthorized Wars and the Illegal Seizure of Venezuela’s President” hit 500 signers!

💬 Text SIGN PZWETF to 50409
Trump’s Unauthorized Wars and the Illegal Seizure of Venezuela’s President
Text SIGN PZWETF to 50409 — I am writing to demand that Congress immediately reassert its constitutional authority over war and peace in response to President Trump’s escalating and unauthorized military aggression. President Trump was elected after promising to end America’s involvement in foreign wars and pursue an “America First” foreign policy rooted in restraint. Instead, his administration has launched or threatened military action across multiple regions—without congressional authorization, without transparency, and without a coherent strategy. U.S. forces have conducted airstrikes in Nigeria. The administration has bombed Iranian nuclear processing facilities and publicly threatened direct military intervention in Iran’s internal protests, declaring the United States “locked and loaded.” Those threats prompted warnings from Iranian leaders that U.S. troops in the region could be targeted in retaliation. At the same time, U.S. military assets have been staged for potential land wars in Venezuela and Colombia. Most alarming, the Trump regime has now publicly asserted that it has taken custody of Venezuela’s sitting president, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife following what it described as a large-scale military operation. Venezuelan authorities dispute this account and have demanded proof of life, while reporting explosions, low-flying aircraft over Caracas, widespread power outages, and strikes affecting both civilian and military sites. Venezuela has declared a state of emergency and ordered national mobilization in response, while neighboring countries have begun taking military and humanitarian precautions amid fears of regional escalation. If the regime's claim is accurate, the forcible seizure of a foreign head of state by U.S. forces constitutes an unauthorized use of force and an act of war under international law. No president has the authority to abduct a foreign leader, conduct regime-change operations, or initiate hostilities without explicit authorization from Congress. None of these actions were preceded by a declaration of war or a specific Authorization for Use of Military Force. They violate Article I of the Constitution and the War Powers Resolution, which exists precisely to prevent presidents from dragging the nation into war through secrecy, impulse, or distraction. This is not a collection of isolated incidents. It is a pattern of reckless and undisciplined warmongering that places U.S. service members in immediate danger. Even limited military operations involve grave risk; those risks multiply when missiles are fired, aircraft fly combat missions, and adversaries are provoked into retaliation. If the United States has seized Venezuela’s president—or even appears to have done so—every American soldier, sailor, pilot, and diplomat in the region becomes a potential target. Congress cannot abdicate its responsibilities. I urge you to: 1. Demand immediate public explanations and classified briefings from the White House and Department of Defense on all recent and ongoing military actions. 2. Convene oversight hearings to examine legal justification, civilian harm, strategic objectives, and escalation risks related to operations in Venezuela, Iran, Nigeria, and the broader region. 3. Invoke the War Powers Resolution to require the immediate cessation of hostilities absent explicit congressional authorization. 4. Use Congress’s power of the purse to block funding for any unauthorized military action. 5. If hearings establish that the president has willfully violated the Constitution or federal law, initiate impeachment proceedings as required by your oath of office. No president may wage war by decree or seize foreign leaders under cover of chaos. Congress must defend the Constitution, protect U.S. service members, and stop this dangerous slide into permanent, unauthorized war.

Take back Congress's War Powers. Stop illegal strikes. DO YOUR JOB. Impeach.
Text SIGN PXXORU to 50409 — Take back Congress's war powers now. ........................................ I am alarmed by the president's unauthorised strikes on Nigeria yesterday and by the ongoing illegal strikes and extra-judicial murders in the Caribbean. ------------------------------------------------It is time, and past time, for Congress to restore constitutional order. ........................... Trump has violated the constitution's war powers clause--which is a cause for impeachment, one among many. He has also flouted court orders, broken the law, attempted to remove rights guaranteed by the constitution, used military troops against US citizens, accepted illegal gifts, impounded congressionally appropriated funds..........................................He is clearly trying to distract the world from the release of the Epstein files.-----------------------------------------Why are you tolerating the usurpation of the powers of Congress?................................... Why are you enabling the cover-up of powerful pedophiles linked to Jeffrey Epstein? -----------------------------------------------------STOP TRUMP'S ILLEGAL STRIKES AGAINST NIGERIA AND VENEZUELAN BOATS NOW. Impeach Trump.
