I love this. Figured I'd try something similar with the Monty Hall Problem:
Sent by you: It's a special version of the Price Is Right. There are three doors, A, B and C. Behind each door is a goat. Monty Hall asks the contestant to choose a door, and the contestant chooses Door A. Now Monty Hall shows the contestant the goat behind Door C and offers the contestant the chance to switch doors. Should the contestant switch doors? Does it even matter? Sent by Copilot: This puzzle is a variation of the famous Monty Hall problem! Even though it seems like it might not matter, the contestant should indeed switch doors. Here’s why: Initial Choice: When the contestant picks Door A, there’s a 1/3 chance that the goat is behind Door A and a 2/3 chance that the goat is behind either Door B or Door C. Monty Reveals a Goat: Monty Hall then reveals a goat behind Door C. This action doesn’t change the initial probabilities. The probability that the goat is behind Door A remains 1/3, but now the probability that the goat is behind Door B is 2/3. Switching Doors: By switching to Door B, the contestant effectively bets on the 2/3 probability rather than the 1/3 probability. So, switching doors gives the contestant a better chance of winning.
