they're stored and transported in envelopes and containers, so I imagine it's not a big issue - though it depends on the fiche as well

For cleaning the scanning machine, a can of compressed air and a microfiber towel are probably enough from what I saw on the stream

re: politics, there used to be an individual labeler that marked and hid posts related to US politics. It went unmaintained but many people say it still work

I'm unable to link to it, but you can search "uspol" on https://www.bluesky-labelers.io and see if it helps

Set up mod service to remove all adult content under Settings, Moderation and remove tags under Settings, Content & media, Your interests. Report posts to the mod service so they get labeled as NSFW. It's also best to move away from the Discover feed => curated feeds once you followed enough people.

just for clarification, are you talking about the Discover feed or the custom curated feeds? I can still see the "See less of this" button when opening a post's context menu in the Discover feed. +1 on adding edit button and photos in DMs

so, there's need for verification from third-party sources, which Bluesky is rolling out. These blue checkmarks mean Bluesky, or established sources such as Wired, recognise these accounts as officially coming from the company or person as they know it. Ideally a notable account should have both.

What you're doing is domain verification, which I understand is a kind of verification. It shows that you have control over the domain, which, if well-known, helps people know you're trustworthy. Not every famous person has their own domain, and malicious domains can be registered by anyone (1/2)

You can use the 2024 US Census data from ustr.gov and the formula from this CNBC article (the numbers in the spreadsheet of this post seem to be different)

but rounded corners take the authenticity away from the news, and I feel distracted by the attention-grabbing moving elements on the screen.

I think I might be the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" type of guy.
