Spectacular @fontainesdc.bsky.social in Melbourne last night!

First impressions: #DeepSeek looks like another good entry into the crowded LLM/ChatBot space. But just like OpenAI and all the others, it gives the same over-confident, over-elaborate, and fundamentally incorrect responses to basic spatial questions. #geoai #gischat

My latest “GIS in 60s” video, on Dijkstra’s shortest paths algorithm. #GISchat

I found this one pushed the limits of what I can explain in 60s. So I’m interested to hear if you think it works or not. But even if not, I did learn some new #AfterEffects tricks along the way and it was fun to make.

The thoughtful @bsky.app people added a setting in the app to help remember.

Latest in my “GIS in 60s” videos tackles one of the most fundamental geometric operations in a #GIS: detecting intersections between line segments. #GISchat

The simple (naive) k-means clustering algorithm is too inefficient to be used in practice. But it’s useful for grasping the idea behind k-means (and as my first attempt at explaining an algorithm in one minute!) #gischat #geoai

The modifiable areal unit problem (MAUP) explained in bsky 60 seconds. The second in the new series to accompany my #GIS book. #gischat

My mission to find the best accessible Indian restaurant in #melbourne continues. Gaylord in the CBD is not it though, even though we had a good meal. Despite good accessibility (🦼🦼🦼🦼, including accessible wc), we rated it only tasty (⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5) and it lacked a little oomph (🌶️🌶️)!

Listening to the brilliant @lisagiven.bsky.social talking about AI irl!

Inspired by the bsky 60s rule for videos, I’ve started a series of short explainers to accompany my #GIS book. First up: the famous four intersection model! #gischat #geoai

In case you too were irritated by the appearance of pointless Teams clutter in your tidy #Mac status bar…

My first slice-and-bake recipe cookie with two dough colours. A bit fiddly moving dough to and from the freezer, but works well.

This cute interactive visualization nolandc.com/chi-shapes/ by Nolan Carroll neatly explains how the “concave hull” algorithm in many #GIS libraries and packages works. #gischat

I’m on a mission to find Melbourne’s best wheelchair-accessible Indian restaurant (suggestions welcome!). MMS Mirchi Madras Streat in Docklands an excellent first entry. Reasonably accessible (although no accessible wc 🦼🦼🦼); reasonably hot (🌶️🌶️🌶️); extremely tasty (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)! Definitely in the running.

Anyone recommend a reliable online tailor for men’s custom work shirts?

Being in a wheelchair all day, and with one hand for buttons, I get my work shirts tailor-adapted. A dozen emails and $400 later with Hockerty (who *promised* they could do it …) my shirts arrived yesterday unmodified 🤬
