Agree with you on this. He’s made explicitly and openly racist comments about Eastern Europeans - including on BBC’s Question Time! - and no-one batted an eyelid but the equally racist stuff he said as a schoolboy seems to be really cutting through

Really solid performance, hopefully we can replicate it vs Liverpool on Saturday

And we were much better tonight than we were against Leicester (or at least 80+ minutes of that game iirc)!

Does the life expectancy cost point not depend a lot on general level of health though? A person with numerous alcohol related health issues who dies 10 years younger might still cost more

He is critical of Starmer and of anti immigration politics in general, I don’t think he can be reasonably described as right wing

No fan of his or the govt he served in, but his comments on Reform UK were more pertinent than anything that has come from anyone in the Labour govt, and should be welcomed

"We have a debt crisis so I've joined the party that was in power for 14 years and under whom debt massively grew."

"Commentator of the Year"
No-one is surprised, Matthew. Absolutely no-one.

You just said you didn’t care about him which is pretty standard for someone living in the UK. No idea why anyone got tetchy about it! The free speech warriors who deride cancel culture seem pretty quiet

Your post was spot on, just seemed to attract some weird responses

I think the point i was vaguely driving at is whether Davey is genuinely concerned about Musk (in which case raise to govt through official channels) or is he just looking for publicity (i.e a social media spat on a platform he shouldn’t really be using given his position re Musk)
September 16, 2025 at 1:40 PM
There are other ways for opposition leaders to communicate with the govt and the public (other than via the social media network owned by the individual they are seeking to sanction). It might work best for publicity but sends a contradictory message
September 16, 2025 at 12:19 PM
Ostensibly he is trying to influence UK govt policy on Musk, which shouldn’t require him to post on his platform
September 16, 2025 at 12:01 PM
Why does Davey think Musk needs to see his comments?
September 16, 2025 at 8:53 AM
Seems contradictory for Davey to do this on Musk’s own social media platform which is a major part of the problem.

And the 7-0 thrashings were never that fun anyway

Think the hope at this point has to be that he gets replaced, rather than improve or change, I think the former is more likely

They need to win back loads of 2024 Lib Dem voters in previously Tory held seats and just haven’t accepted that reality
