I worked in tech media until 2016, then moved to a job at a nonprofit, which I only got because of my body of journalistic work.
I am where I am today because of Pilky.
I only wish I got the opportunity to tell him that.

Up to that point, I was eyeing a career in teaching, but it was that experience with that blog and those people that made me realize, you know what, I could do this journalism thing for a living. And so I did.

I agreed, and within a week, "Deep Thought: Inside the Minds of Geeks" was born.
I didn't know it at the time, but that was the beginning of my career in tech journalism.

I never met Pilky in person, and it's been years since we've spoken, but once upon a time, we were both active on a tech forum together. One day, when the forum we were on was embroiled in drama, he approached me about starting a tech blog with him.

I just firmly believe the internet needs a corner of weirdos talking to each other, and I have been a little despondent, on a personal and professional basis, that that felt truly lost lately.
