I'd ask why Patton Oswalt went on that show in the first place, but he also is friends with the guy who created "The Happy Merchant", so he isn't big on standards for his associates.

I highly recommend tracking down the documentary DVDs that the Sublime Frequencies label has released about that region. I can only find one in my collection rn, but the other one I have covers their sort of Mardi gras equivalent.
