"Costumbres valencianas" de 1889, colección particular. En esta escena atendemos a una tierna estampa familiar en la que un pequeño es el centro de atención de su familia mientras juega con numerosas flores. El costumbrismo popular valenciano fue un tópico muy tratado por Joaquín Sorolla, valenciano, quien gustaba de captar la indumentaria y los espacios valencianos. Lo vemos en tantas otras obras como "Los guitarristas", "El naranjero", "Bordadora valenciana", "", etc. Esta producción es característica de los primeros años de su carrera artística (1885-1990) en que pinta una serie de cuadritos de género. Son escenas costumbristas en la estela de Fortuny, pinturas muy detallistas, de una técnica depurada y pequeño tamaño, que representan escenas amables. En esta ocasión nos revela un patio interior con la azulejería tradicional de la zona.
