Big Brother, Survivor, TCM, Drag Race, and pop culture chewing gum for the brain
I know, god, I’m just picturing him at ago 13 with Cheetos in his braces too

I love it when Rizo cries.

A bad-ass beanpole nerd gamer with nerves and nuts of steel, crying over spaghetti. It’s so New Era. #Survivor

#Survivor is the greenest show on TV, because every challenge is recycled.

The great writer Jim Downey is the delightfully warped mind behind those. What a great comic talent he is.

Long story. but Jeremy said Parvati was not really a 2-time winner because he doesn’t respect Australian Survivor. Jeff didn’t defend her. Then Las Culturistas went after Jeff for it. It ended with Parvati suggesting to CBS she could host Survivor when they were done with Jeff.

Rizo’s brain just don’t work right. But damned if that doesn’t make him very good at #Survivor.

Kristina was inconsolable but now she’s laughing and pushing forward. That was a good moment for Jeff. #Survivor

Like Edward Albert, Eileen Heckart died of lung cancer.

The overbearing mother is such a big trope in entertainment from this era. This, Neil Simon, Bye Bye Birdie, half of Angela Lansbury’s movies…

I don’t get it. What was it about this specific moment in history that made this type of character resonate with audiences?

Don’t smoke that cigarette, Edward!!

It’s horrible watching him smoke.

(He died of lung cancer at age 55.)

Goldie Hawn’s part was originated by Blythe Danner on Broadway.

Danner made the movie of “1776” instead of reprising her part in this movie.

She took part Betty Buckley originated in 1776. What did Betty get in 1972? An off-Broadway play.

When this play was on Broadway (1,128 performances!), Gloria Swanson played the mother after Eileen Heckart’s contract ended.

Every now and then in this movie, Edward Albert has a slightly British inflection to his speech. He had just returned to the U.S. from being in university at Oxford.

Sort of like Carrie Fisher in Star Wars, who picked up a British tinge from filming in England.

Rizo reminds me of a middle school kid with no control over his body and sticky fingers and Cheetos stuck in his braces, but dammit if he’s not charismatic in his weird rat boy way
