Absolutely
Political donations are institutionalized bribery.

Donors get access to policymakers, shape laws, tax privileges, lax regulations, govt contracts/subsidies, honours, power.

Banning political donations is a necessary step for free and fair elections and democracy

How our democracy has been hijacked by corporations and wealthy elites
The only effective remedy is to ban all private donations, or bribes, to political parties.

Erm, Rooney was never 'warmly' regarded at Birmingham. We knew him for what he was - a celebrity show pony and useless manager. We were well rid of him, but not before his incompetence got us relegated.

Yes, yes, very lawdable, but unattainable until you reject Thatcherism, realise the economy is a 'means' and not an 'end', and show vision and courage in making the necessary changes. No evidence so far he has the cajones for this!

This man sows hate, lies and division.

He is a grifter and a conman.

He does not represent the vast majority of Britons.

Exactly. There shud be no 'private' money in politics. It's corruption. Pure and simple.
The problem of private funding of UK politics runs deeper than one prospective donation. The only way to prevent its corrosion of democracy is a public funding model.

In lieu of that, we need stricter controls on who can donate and how much can be donated.

Yes, some VCs haven't made the smartest decisions, but it was Tory neoliberals that made knowledge a commodity, and forced Universities to become knowledge businesses. They then undermined them. These deficits are the result. Mindless vandalism on a genuinely workd-leading sector.
Latest UK universities to post deficits: St Andrews (-£13m), York (-£9m), Leicester (-£8.3m), Brunel (-£13m), Hull (-£17.3m), Surrey (-£17.9m). Plus King's (-£19m), Nottingham (-£17m), Open University (-£10.3m), UEA (-£7.6m) www.timeshighereducation.com/news/york-an... via @patrickjack.bsky.social
