2025 Books: 33 📚
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
4.5/5 ⭐️

It’s been foreverrrrr since I’ve read a solid psychological thriller. This one kept me on my toes, and the way the story was constructed/structured was brilliant.

Lord of Chaos by Robert Jordan

And it continues!! What a spectacular series of events that occurred in this book. So many thoughts that spurred on great discussions. Such a good one. Onto the next!

The Women by Kristin Hannah
5/5 ⭐️

Wow. What an amazing book. Probably one of the best historical fictions I’ve read in a long time (The Alice Network is up there too). What an incredibly tragic and brave story that needed to be shared. I’m looking forward to reading more of her books.

The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride
3/5⭐️
I think overall I liked this one. I liked his quirky style of writing and found the characters enjoyable. However, I felt like it took way too long to get to the main plot of the book.

Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu
4/5⭐️

Ahh the book that inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula (but sapphic 🙌). Absolutely loved this classic. Very easy to follow and kept me hooked. “Languid” was used SO much as a descriptor but that’s just my brain picking up patterns lol

Bird Box by Josh Malerman
3.75/5⭐️

I adore psychological thrillers, and this was pretty good. I mayyyy have scored it a little higher if I hadn’t seen the movie first and knew what was coming, but all around, it was pretty solid.

Any thriller suggestions are welcome!

A Scandal in Bohemia by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle 4/5⭐️

I honestly have no idea why it took me so long to start reading Sherlock Holmes. They’re such a nice pallet cleanser. Short, witty, hilariously written - these classics are easy to read and are wonderfully ridiculous.

The Fires of Heaven by Robert Jordan (WoT #5) 5/5⭐️

I’m in deep with this series. Absolutely love all the moving parts and character development in this one (though, Nynaeve has some more to go). I missed Perrin and am very much what the fuck just happened with others, so on to the next!

So Gay for You by Leisha Hailey and Kate Moennig 4/5⭐️
I looooved this. I listened to the audiobook, and it felt so cool to hear about their history in their own voices.

Loved The L Word and love their podcast Pants. Highly recommend this one if you also love a little Shane and Alice 😚

The Shadow Rising by Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time #4)
⭐️5/5

Wowowowow. Absolutely in love with the world that’s being built. This book really propels the plot forward with intense reveals, amazing sarcastic humor, and opportunities to start connecting the dots from previous book hints.

Just wrapped up All Kinds of Other by James Sie
3.75/5 ⭐️
I think I had to keep reminding myself to read this through the lens of a high schooler, and from this stance, I liked it!
The transphobia that’s present throughout the book is jarring, but that is also (unfortunately) reality.

Beyond the Gender Binary by Alok Vaid-Menon - 4.5/5 ⭐️

As a nonbinary person myself, I like that they look at society’s views and expectations of how we should fit into the mold, and how counterproductive we are by doing just that.

Celebrate diversity and open up what we can be ✨

The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu and translated by Ken Liu

4/5⭐️

I was a little nervous with how heavy the math and theoretical physics were in this book, but damn was it good. If you liked the show, highly recommend giving this a try! I’m excited for the next books in the series ✨

Sunrise on the Reaping. Oh my heart. 4.8/5 ⭐️
Excellent prequel - I think it’ll be interesting rereading the original 3 and seeing what is revealed in a new light.

Went to an ACOTAR trivia last night in Dayton with my sister, and it was SO magical and cute! Ended in 32nd out of 261 players as Rhys’s Pieces 🥲 a little challenging but super doable! Definitely will be back for Fourth Wing night 🐉

Ahh! And the journey continues! A strong 4.5/5 ⭐️ for The Dragon Reborn (book 3 of 14 in The Wheel of Time series).

Excellent pacing and I love some solid character and plot development. Onto the next!

4/5⭐️ for The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan! I am LOVING The Wheel of Time series so much, and I’m actually almost finished with the 3rd. Once I get a little farther (maybe book 6ish), I’ll keep going on the show. Don’t want to spoil too much!

Oof. Okay. I only give 2/5 ⭐️ for Onyx Storm. In the words of another reader (Rowan on Goodreads), “The potential is chasing Rebecca Yarros…but she’s faster!!”

Got some thriller fixes in 🕵️

Please Tell Me by Mike Omer was fantastic! 4.3/5

The Locked Door by Freida McFadden was a little meh for me compared to some of her other works that I’ve read. 3/5

Any suggestions I should hit up on KU or Libby? #booksky
