NEW RESEARCH: People who grow up in deprived areas of the UK experience #PTSD at 3X the rate than those in affluent areas and experience more severe symptoms, according to Prof Jaime Delgadillo (IoPPN) and @drtomrichardson.bsky.social @sotonpsychology.bsky.social.

Our new research published today has shown that those from poorer neighborhoods have higher rates of #PTSD and more severe symptoms, but do not benefit from psychological therapies as much as those from richer areas.

Great that the #NHS 10 Year Plan has suggested that neighborhood community centers offer #debt advice amongst other services! There is such a vicious cycle between #Money problems and #MentalHealth the more we can tackle both together the better!

Don’t believe recent media and government messages that it’s really easy to get disability benefits in the UK: I have bipolar disorder type 1 (relapse recently), I’m autistic and I have severe bladder and prostate pain 24/7. I spend hundreds a month on medications and aids not covered by the NHS
