Lasting impact of the Chilean dictatorship and the 2019 unrest: "My discussions with young people who suffered eye injuries [trauma from state violence in 2019] illustrated more was needed to provide integral reparations to them, including critical psychosocial support."

During her hospital visits in Chile, UN Special Rapporteur Tlaleng Mofokeng "heard from healthcare workers and administrators who reported overwhelming workloads, unsustainable stress levels, and exposure to violence, including from patients due to frustration with waiting times."

UN Special Rapporteur Mofokeng: "I repeatedly heard the worrying sentiment that 'in Chile, health is not a right, but a business'. Powerful groups representing vested interests in the health sector with profit-making aims tend to function without the necessary human rights safeguards in Chile."
