He replied with a phone number; we had a lovely chat. It was amazing to me that someone so knowledgeable would just be willing to talk to a random grad student. My class presentation went well and almost 20 years later I still remember the conversation.

We got my parents ruby-themed gifts - a picture frame of our family (my parents and their kids) that was deep ruby, and champagne flutes with ruby tops. And we cooked them a nice dinner and spent time with them.

Cream cheese frosting is so delish! but I never have CC in my house so I always default to butter cream too.

I mean lazy might be just a powder sugar glaze, so I think you're really putting in some effort there with buttercream :D The real question for all of us is what flavor cake!!

I do the same thing - sometimes i have reminders that are multiple days "parents visiting" where my calendar might still free for part of it - other times i have to block my calendar "ashe" where i have to mark "busy"
