WE CANNOT STAY SILENT Australian doctors call for government action to end the loss of life in Gaza. We are Australian doctors deeply concerned by the ongoinghumanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and the occupied WestBank, As members of a protession dedicated to preserving life, relieving suffering, and upholding human dignity, we are profoundly disturbed by the images and personal accounts from colleagues witnessing the devastating impact of this conflict on the Palestinian people. Respected international bodies, including the World HealthOrganization （WHO）， Medecins Sans Frontieres （MSF），the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) report the following: • 53,000 people killed • 15,600 children killed • 1,400 healthcare workers killed • 300 healthcare workers abducted or detained • 36 hospitals bombed or rendered non-functional • Medical equipment deliberately destroyed after forced hospital evacuations • More than 2 million people displaced • Over 470,000 people facing catastrophic levels of food insecurity (IPC Phase 5) • Patients, including children in intensive care, dying due to lack of access to medical treatment • Patients killed while in hospital receiving treatment • Amputations performed on children without anaesthesia or pain relief • The ceasing of immunisation programs, with increased risk of life threatening preventable disease outbreaks •Malnutrition, trauma,and lack of access to clean water severely impairing child development • Over 1 million children needing mental health and psychosocial support We urgently call on the Australian Government to： • Call for an immediate and sustained ceasefire • Demand Israel abides by international law and ends the targeting of civilians, healthcare workers and medical infrastructure • Advocate forthe unconditional release of all Israeli and Palestinian hostages • Insist on and support unimpeded access for humanitarian aid •Take me…
