US Drought Monitor class change map comparing conditions from November 25 to November 18. Parts of the West had mostly improvements, although there were some degradations on the eastern side of the region. The Northeast also saw some improvements, with a few minor areas of degradation. The High Plains, South and Midwest saw mixed conditions. The Southeast saw some degradations, with a few small areas of improvement. Puerto Rico also saw an area of degradation.

Rain and snow in parts of the Northeast brought improvements to dryness and drought this week. In particular, most of the extreme drought in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont eased. (1/2)

USDM Hot Topic November 20, 2025: the Northeast. In the Northeast, coverage of abnormal dryness or drought decreased from 82.58% to 79.82%. Moderate drought or worse fell from 50.8% to 43.16%. Severe drought or worse decreased slightly from 19.41% to 18.08%. Extreme drought, which was covering parts of the northern New England area, dropped from 7.58% to 0.49%.

US Drought Monitor class change map comparing conditions from November 18 to November 11. Parts of the West saw improvements this week, with two-category improvements in California, although Montana saw mixed conditions and New Mexico had some degradations. The Northeast saw mostly improvements, with small areas of degradation. Drought conditions also improved on Hawaii. Meanwhile, drought worsened across parts of the High Plains, Midwest and Southeast, with an area of two-category degradation in Oklahoma. Virginia and North Carolina saw mixed conditions, as well as Puerto Rico.

After a dry, balmy week across much of Texas, drought conditions worsened in southern and eastern portions of the state. Streamflow levels are lower than usual for parts of central and south Texas during this time of year.

USDM Hot Topic November 13, 2025: Texas. In Texas, coverage of abnormal dryness or drought increased from 83.46% to 85.75% this week. Moderate drought or worse expanded from 45.37% to 53.65%. Severe drought or worse rose from 16.64% to 23.49%. Extreme drought increased slightly from 4.01% to 4.91%. Exceptional drought remained at 0.15%.

Mostly improvements occurred in parts of the Northeast and Northwest, with small areas of degradation. Hawaii also saw improvements. Mostly degradations occurred in parts of the Southeast, South and High Plains. The Midwest saw mixed conditions.

Above-average precipitation alleviated some drought in #Maine this week. However, over 80% of the state remains in severe drought (D3) or worse. This is the greatest amount of D3 in Maine since winter 2001-2. The #drought continues to affect agriculture and exacerbate wildfire risk in the state.
USDM Hot Topic November 6, 2025: Maine. Maine remained completely in drought for the fifth consecutive week in a row. Severe drought or worse receded from 89.8% to 81.04%. Meanwhile, extreme drought increased slightly from 42.65% to 42.72%. The Drought Severity and Coverage Index decreased slightly from 332 to 324 of 500.
