A NOTE FROM NATIONAL LINKS TRUST As a DC golfer, you know how special the East Potomac, Langston, and Rock Creek courses are. But their future is under threat. In 2020, the National Links Trust began a 50-year lease of DCS courses to manage and oversee rehabilitation projects that will guarantee a bright future for public golf. However, the Department of the Interior has taken steps to terminate this lease. If successful, the move would derail plans already underway and could undermine our promise to keep DC municipal golf affordable and accessible for all. PlayDCgolf and the National Links Trust remain fully committed to honoring the legacies and principles of DC's historic public courses. If you agree, we're asking you to stand with us. Share your love for DC's three public courses with friends and neighbors. Spread the word on social media that the National Links Trust should remain managing the courses, including renovations. Purchase some NLT merch or donate directly. Every show of support helps. Langston Golf Course is home to the oldest African American men's and women's golf clubs in the United States. Langston's history is directly tied to the desegregation of sport in our country. The course was managed by professional golfer Lee Elder, the first African American to play in the Masters and 2019 recipient of the USGAs prestigious Bob Jones Award, from 1978 to 1981. Elder invested in improving the course, and added a driving range to make the facility more popular.
