The only reason multiplayer games in a “post-Fortnite world” are able to be cheap/free is because they include various other forms of monetization. Mario Kart World doesn’t have this. I’m not defending or arguing the price of Mario Kart, but I’m just pointing out that your argument is flawed.

This is honestly the reason I got a switch 2 on launch. My original launch switch was starting to show some serious signs of aging and there were a ton of games I never got around to so the upgrade made sense for me and honestly this is probably the only reason to get Switch 2 rn

I think so. It’s a direct continuation and while I’m still early on in 2, it’s seemingly a direct response of 1 thematically so I’d bet you would lose a lot by forgoing it. It’s pretty long (I think my play through was 40ish hours), but I love the gameplay loop so that didn’t bother me but YMMV.

I haven’t started 2 yet (planning on it as soon as I get home today) but from what I’ve seen, you absolutely should play 1. It looks like 2 is meant to be a pretty direct response (and maybe even rejection) of 1 thematically so I’d bet you would lose a lot by forgoing it. It’s also excellent.

As a type 1 diabetic who actually experiences many diabetic alarms from my CGM and Pump irl, from the original post, I legitimately thought this must have been for a game where you play as a diabetic lmao

I don’t think this is really a 1:1, tho. PSP had music player features literally built in. It was a pretty advertised feature iirc. The kind of tweaking of the deck being discussed is a kind of different beast altogether.

As a related aside, I also think this is why TLOU works much less successfully as a show. By taking out the forced agency of the player, it just kinda becomes a pretty standard story. This is even more true of 2. Making YOU act out the shitty decisions of the characters is kinda the point imo.

I did this with the boss fights in Xenoblade 3. Well most of em, I still need to revisit and finish that game. But while I certainly could beat them on the difficulty I played, they’re just SO long that I decided it made the experience much more enjoyable.
