A great day learning, reflecting and catching up with colleagues.
Admittedly my brain feels rather full now!
Glad it’s the weekend & time to spend with family!
Thanks to @btog.bsky.social for putting on a great study day

Love this about being an expert - ‘always aware they could do things better’

I wrote this last year.

It’s good to look ahead and feel hopeful but sometimes it’s also ok to take each day as it comes, even each moment!

reading some more of Danielle Ofri’s excellent book ‘What doctors feel’
Really admire her honesty talking about the fear drs live with. Appreciated this section when she talks about the challenges of missing diagnoses in patients with multiple symptoms.
And that ultimately we will make mistakes.

I’m currently reading this incredible book after hearing her on Rangan Chatterjee’s podcast.

I loved her other book The Choice.

A lot to take from this personally but also think this would be beneficial to many of our patients.

For those of you that don’t already know I’m an avid reader: I love all formats: audio, ebooks & actually paper books.
Here’s what I read in November.
Overall feel 2024 has not been a great reading year. But let’s see what December is get to bring!

I’m currently reading the book on my library app.
So far it’s brilliant.
Considers how drs are infallible, how we feel too.
Lots of nuggets in here on empathy, emotions, communication skills.

I wrote this poem 2 years ago & after a long day in clinic today I can confirm it still feels like this.

In fact I think there is another poem in me that I need to write to reflect on how tough this job is.
