#Glaciers2025 is drawing to a close. The last thematic sessions have just started, including this one on Climate Finance and Investment for Glacier Preservation and Adaptation. After that it’s the closing session and the end of a whirlwind but amazing three days.

It’s all happening in Dushanbe at #Glaciers2025.
Excellent quote in the plenary this morning:
“"Glaciers preservation is not just the problem of countries with glaciers, it is a global crisis and requires a global response".
Glacier festival last night was amazing, too.

Fieldwork last week on Langfjordjøkulen, a rapidly shrinking glacier in northern Norway, was a good warmup for the #DushanbeGlaciersConference this week here in Tajikistan. #Glaxiers2025

I’m delighted to be in Paris for the Brainstorming session on the Decade of Action for Cryosphere Sciences and participating in two panels - on “socioeconomic impacts, vulnerability and adaptation” and on “policy, advocacy and campaigns”. Tomorrow is the first #WorldGlaciersDay #Glaciers2025

Bella spent most of the first two years of her life in Nepal chained to a fence, except when I came home from work and played with her. Eventually we adopted her and took her with us when we moved back to Norway, where she loves playing in the snow.

What did you do yesterday to mark the first day of the next 1,461 days? I said goodbye to twitter and renewed (after a pause) my guardian subscription for a year @theguardian.com

Day 6 in the field of #HKHWomenOnIce saw the participants enthusiastically working on their projects, such as measuring sediment profiles. And then the snow came and it was time for a snowball fight! @icimod.bsky.social

Yesterday was day 5 of #HKHWomenOnIce and once again, the group of women truly impressed me and impressed themselves. Everyone made it to #Ponkar lake at 4100 m elevation to see this fascinating mountain lake and incredible view. @icimod.bsky.social @chimis.bsky.social
