Have just spent 2 amazing days at the University of Birmingham, learning to isolate and characterise immune cells from human skeletal muscle tissue. We’re developing this protocol so we can undertake studies investigating role of immune cells in ageing muscle

Decided to go for a run yesterday. Didn’t plan the route, just went where it seemed sunniest. Was not a fast run, but most enjoyable this year.

It’s been a rocky 2 years but the human tissue lab is finally complete (other than some paperwork for health and safety!). Thanks to everyone involved and looking forward to getting back in the lab! Thanks to @thermofishersci.bsky.social for the equipment and Beckman Coulter for the amazing flow!

Last week I was at the @heriotwattuni.bsky.social Dubai campus for week 2 of the Global Leaders Programme. Lots of learning from a great bunch of people from various disciplines and services at the University, in a truly stimulating programme. Beautiful campus, and outrageous city.
